The most visited place in the entire China! Beautiful and picturesque landscape |
The Osmanthus-tree-city, in Summer overcrowded with tourists and in winter turning to a ghost town |
Description: I went to Guilin alone because my friends all went back to their home (Chinese and non-Chinses ones). All were gone therefore I thought that spending a little time out of Shanghai was a nice idea. Indeed, I have had really fun there, spending three days and Guilin and two in Yangshuo (阳朔). Maybe I was alone during the day but in the evening I always found some nice people to hang around with. So I spent most of the time on a bike (I rented one for two days) and I also tried a trip on a motorbike (well a 50cc motorized scooter) and it was a really nice and funny experience. What I mostly liked there was the landscape, I mean in this place you will finally discover where all those huge moutains, that were painted by Chinese artists, are coming from. Guilin and Yangshuo are well-known to be very touristic areas in summers, tourists are coming from all around the world (and it's true, I saw many many foreigners there). Who says touristic area also means "lot of money". So my advise is: "Get prepared to bargain really hard!". Some tourists are buying things 5 or 6 times the normal price (maybe even more), so before getting into business, take some informations about the prices that can be applied here. The touristic attractions are also quite expensive (bamboo rafting - 100 RMB -, different caves - from 50 up to 160 RMB -, Li-River boat trip - between 250 and 500 RMB -) but I think some of them like the descent on the Li-River from Guilin to Yangshuo, are really worth. Just enjoy the pictures!
